Super7 surprised everybody at Toy Fair earlier this year when they revealed ThunderCats Wave 4 Deluxe ahead of it’s Spring release. The wave itself had quite the journey to make it to collectors’ hands, with some being Target exclusives for a period, while others were made available on Walmart’s site. All of them however, also made their wave into stores across the US before finally making their debut on super7.com and other e-retailers. Not at the same time, mind you!

Wave 14 is here. It felt much longer for it to arrive from the US than what it felt since I had purchased it on November last year. This was our first presale, which means that the items are already made, and made in limited quantity I need to add. What’s more, these will usually ship within a month or so. With the festive season arriving just a few weeks after the presale went up, it was understandable that there might be some delays. Not much, but early January the wave started shipping out. I’m so glad they didn’t wait for Wizz-Ra to get fixed.

The only time I hate the holidays is when it interferes with my deliveries. And my Top 10…. I’m sure that would’ve looked a little bit different, but it’s ok, I’ve started 2026 with three really great figures. Wave 12, consisting of the Berserker Cruncher, the Warrior Maiden Nayda, and the big game hunter Safari Joe, and his robot helper Mule, arrived on the very last day of 2025, delayed for over two weeks. Quite understandable when you consider it hit the Christmas rush of flights and deliveries. What a great day it was.

It’s odd that people are still discovering ThunderCats. Forty years later, “new” collectors are happening upon this vintage cartoon’s newest iteration of toys in Target stores throughout the US. As a fan that’s been very vocal about the Super7 toyline, it’s therefore heartwarming to find old fans rediscovering the line. I can already hear them uttering in delight how these Deluxe cardbacks switch on a light of nostalgia the moment it is spotter in the isles of your neighborhood Target.

Now here’s a surprise reissue I support wholeheartedly. Not that I haven’t supported previous ones, I’d have to add. But this is one I had to get. And yes, it might be the 8th variant of Lion-O, 9th if you count the version 2 reissue (not that I do!), but this justifies purchasing it right away, even if it is just to own a pinless version of our hero Lion-O.

Back in 2023 Astral Projection Lion-O debuted as part of the Cats Lair offering. Reach 5000 sales and this figure would be included. Unfortunately, this final tier was never reached, and with just about 600 short of this tier, the chance to own this version of Lion-O disappeared. Albeit just temporarily.

Toy Fair 2025 was a blast! We had our first look at the in packaging Lion-O and Mumm-Ra LEDs, with teases of Panthro and “Old Man” Mumm-Ra for the vintage line, as well as the debut of the brand new Wave 2 Deluxe Tygra and Cheetara figures. And now, not even three months later, Super7 surprises with these two sought after characters on my doorstep.

Apparently 5 years ago life would’ve looked very different. Matty Collector had a 5 year plan for their ThunderCats Classic line that launched in 2016. The holiday item for 2020 was going to be the crowning jewel of the line – up to that point. Yes, even Mattel planned to have Cats Lair made. But despite the line’s premature cancellation (remember that tragic day when we were informed of the line’s death even before the first figures came out; or the second blow when Super7 confirmed they won’t be continuing the line), the rewritten timeline still gave us what only +/- 4300 today can say is theirs – an actual playset for this expansive 7″ ULTIMATES! line. Yes, Cats Lair has finally made it home.
