Windhammer ULTIMATES! First Look with ToyBro

We don’t need superstitions like “third time’s the charm” when it comes to talking toys with our admired and much loved favorite toy reviewer ToyBro0, aka Jared Elswick, since every time is a charm! We get to talk the latest releases from Super7 and this time is no different. We’re discussing the Mob of course, all the way from Limbo, and that means SilverHawks is on the agenda as we continue with this third figure from Wave 2.

WWMTC: Here’s a beast of a figure! Windhammer really looks bulky from what I’ve seen. Is he? Which other figure would you compare him with size wise in terms of ULTIMATES! that we’ve gotten so far?

TB: He’s definitely a chunky figure, sort of in line with the beefier figures in the TMNT line. He’s not tall but he’s got those big tree trunk legs that make him into something larger than average.

WWMTC: Let’s get the obvious out of the way. He has a soft goods tunic. Does it work here?

TB: It very much does. It’s very unique though due to how it’s implemented. It fits him great, easily removable if you felt compelled to do that. But the belt pegs through the tunic into the figures back, there’s actually a hole in his back for it, so it sort of gets locked into place. It doesn’t really flop around or anything, I really like it.

WWMTC: Would you have liked the option of a plastic tunic, a la Splinter?

TB: I suppose it would have been fine, but I wouldn’t use it.

WWMTC: This chap only has two heads, but he has a hairdo of note on both. Thoughts?

TB: I think we got all we really need with the 2. Stoic expression with the hair back and a more screaming head with the hair blowing is what I need for him and both look great. They obviously hinder movement some, but they’re both well done.

WWMTC:  His tuning fork comes with lovely blast effects. I am still in awe at how cool these look. Which is your favorite and why?

TB: I think the rock blast type effect is my favorite, it’s a slight bit harder to use due to how heavy it is, but all of these effects are more than welcome here. I’m glad to see they’re going down the effect part road more and more.

WWMTC: Do these effects just slide onto the top of the tuning fork? Would you say that they fit onto it nice and tight or can these fall off easily?

TB: They stay on pretty well, they just slide onto the end of the fork. The rock blast is a bit heavier, so you’ll need to balance it better but the other 2 are super easy to use, none of them are particularly troublesome. Certainly not like with Bluegrass’s effect.

WWMTC:  Hands are plentiful as well this time round with Windhammer. One would of course want to use a gripping hand on the one arm for holding the tuning fork, but which other hand would you use here?

TB: I’ve become quite fond of all these pointing finger hands we’re getting. So unless I end up displaying him with a 2 handed pose on the fork, I’ll use one of those.

WWMTC: He is the first the Mob in our collections. Are there any previously unmade characters that you would like to see join him?

TB: I really want a Yes-Man, if I had to choose. But Melodia is up there for sure.

WWMTC: Assuming we’re back again with the final SilverHawk next, right?

TB: Unless Wave 1 lands in my lap between now and then, he’s on deck.
